Our Story

IFI Foundation, short for Information For Impact, was incorporated on 5 January 2023 as a Section 8 not-for-profit company under the Companies Act, 2013. Founded in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, IFI grew out of a practical observation: that many of the health and development challenges communities face are compounded by gaps in access to timely, relevant, and culturally appropriate information.

In our founding year, we launched multi-week campaigns on stroke awareness and menstrual health, joined the Odisha Menstrual Health & Hygiene Alliance (OMHHA), became an institutional member of the World Stroke Organization, and supported disaster relief communications during the Bahanaga train tragedy through the Citizen Actions Response initiative. We convened the IFI Foundation Conclave on Stroke and launched the IFI Stroke Initiative. We also co-organised the Odisha Conference of Youth (OCOY 2023), bringing together 150 young people to engage with climate and environmental issues, as a partner of the UNICEF-led Youth4Water Plus campaign alongside 30+ organisations working on water, sanitation, hygiene, and climate.

By 2024, our health awareness work had expanded to cover over 20 topics, from diabetes and heart health to mental wellness and cancer care. This was done through digital-first, multilingual content produced in partnership with Swasthya Plus Network and OdishaLIVE. We continued to build our engagement across the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in health (SDG 3), education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), and clean water and sanitation (SDG 6).

In 2025, we deepened our institutional partnerships, signing memoranda of understanding with Rama Devi Women’s University, Berhampur University, and the Abhyutthana Foundation. We partnered with IIT Bhubaneswar Research & Entrepreneurship Park on Project Period (a conclave dedicated to menstrual health and hygiene), and joined the Odisha Society of the Americas as an outreach partner for their Odisha Public Library Vision advocacy. We also expanded our flagship stroke campaign into Stroke Mukt Jeevan 3.0, moving from a regional Odia campaign to a multi-lingual pan-India effort across English, Odia, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali.

In 2026, we signed a new partnership with Glosity Inc. to bring AI-powered career readiness tools to students across Odisha at no cost, and launched Spot Stroke, Save Lives, a six-month statewide youth campaign to build community-level stroke recognition.

We are still a young organisation, and we are deliberate about where we focus. Our approach is to identify areas where information gaps create the highest barriers to better outcomes, and then work with partners and the broader ecosystem to address those gaps systematically. We do not claim to have all the answers. We are committed to building the partnerships and evidence base needed to move measurable outcomes forward.

IFI Centre for Development

The institutional platform through which IFI Foundation organises and delivers its work.

The IFI Centre for Development is IFI Foundation’s strategic knowledge and action hub. It consolidates our programmes, partnerships, and community engagement under a single institutional framework, designed to convert credible information and research into measurable outcomes at the community level.

Our approach is grounded in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), a methodology widely used by public health bodies and development organisations to design interventions that address knowledge gaps, shift behaviours, and strengthen community capacity. We combine SBCC with evidence-based grassroots initiatives and strategic partnerships to ensure our work is both rigorous and responsive to the communities we serve.

Public Health

Equitable and informed healthcare access through large-scale digital and on-ground outreach. Covers stroke awareness and prevention, menstrual health and hygiene, health literacy across 20+ topics, and disaster communications.

Environment & Sustainability

Environmental resilience as a driver of social progress. Covers climate awareness, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), and practical community-level action through partnerships including the UNICEF-led Youth4Water Plus coalition.

Youth & Women Empowerment

Campus-based engagement, youth conclaves, career readiness programmes, and gender-focused campaigns. Covers university partnerships, the Glosity AI-powered career readiness initiative, Let’s Talk Periods, and youth-led stroke awareness through the Stroke Spotters programme.

The Centre consolidates IFI Foundation’s expertise into a single platform for institutional and CSR partners, offering a streamlined and transparent route to co-create programmes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. If your organisation is looking for an implementation partner across public health, climate, or youth development, we welcome the conversation.
