Privacy Policy
How we handle information you share with us through our website, forms, and other digital channels.
Last updated: 28 April 2026
Who this policy is from
IFI Foundation (“IFI”, “we”, “our”) is a Section 8 not-for-profit company registered in India. This policy covers personal information you share with us through our website, contact forms, event registrations, volunteer signups, and any other digital channels we operate.
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to share with us. In practice this usually means:
- Contact details you enter into a form, such as your name, email address, phone number, or organisation.
- The content of your message or the specific information you share (for example, the subject of your enquiry, a volunteering interest, or a question about a programme).
- Basic technical information logged by our hosting provider (Netlify), such as IP address and browser type, used to keep the site running and to spot abuse. If analytics is enabled, we may also collect aggregated website usage information through Google Analytics, such as page views, approximate location, device type, and referral source.
We do not collect sensitive personal information such as financial data, government identifiers, or health records unless you choose to share them in a message. If you do, please only share what’s necessary.
What we use it for
- To respond to your enquiry, partnership request, or application.
- To send you updates, programme information, or event details that you have asked to receive.
- To keep records of communications for internal coordination across our team.
- To meet our legal and statutory obligations as a registered not-for-profit in India.
We never use your information to build profiles for targeted advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where we have to, and only with a small set of service providers:
- Netlify, which hosts our website and processes form submissions.
- Email providers we use to communicate with you.
- Statutory authorities when required by Indian law.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not pass it to partner organisations unless you have explicitly asked us to, for example by requesting an introduction.
How long we keep it
We hold contact form submissions and related correspondence only for as long as we need to respond to you and keep a reasonable record for our own accountability. If you have asked to be on a newsletter or update list, we keep your details until you ask to be removed.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your information from our records.
- Stop contacting you, including removing you from any update lists.
To make any of these requests, email us at hello@ifi.org.in. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe, usually within a few working days.
Children
Our website and forms are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we may have collected information from a child without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will remove it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We do not set marketing cookies. If Google Analytics is enabled, it may use cookies or similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site. We use this information in aggregate to improve the website, not to target advertising or sell visitor profiles. Any strictly necessary cookies or local storage are used only for site functionality.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when our programmes change or when Indian data protection law is updated. Significant changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. We encourage you to check back occasionally if this matters to you.
